The abstract parable tells the story of the naive stranger Hans, who finds himself in an huge agency and meets the bizarre members of a strange society. He discovers the distracting and exploitative mechanisms of the system, but is seduced by its pleasures, his own desire for belonging and attraction to a woman and eventually becomes an active, obedient part of this society herself.
