In an elementary school, after a teacher severely punishes a
Black student, the student develops a severe stutter and speech
impairment. Doctors diagnose the issue as a result of
psychological trauma. The student’s family obtains a legal warrant
for the teacher’s arrest, and the teacher faces a difficult choice,
eventually being forced to endure a similar punishment to escape
legal consequences.
Puya Mofid, born on July 6, 2003, in Isfahan, is a young Iranian filmmaker whose
passion for film began at the age of 13, leading him to pursue a career in cinema. He
has worked in various roles (assistant director, cinematographer, and editor) on
numerous projects and is currently focused primarily on directing.
He received his diploma in Animation from the School of Fine Arts in Isfahan and is
currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Cinema in Isfahan.
Puya Mofid is the founder and director of the first film and art school in Isfahan, called
„Khat-e Farzi Film School,“ officially licensed by the Technical and Vocational Training
Organization. He is recognized as the youngest filmmaker to own a film school in Iran
and is actively teaching film making.
Punishment* is Puya Mofid’s first professional short film, created with a team of *
professional cinema and theater actors and crew.
