Born in Vilnius (Lithuania) in 1992, Kristijonas is an audiovisual artist and filmmaker. In his work, he combines music and sonic art with visual expression in narrative and non-narrative films, music videos, audiovisual installations, and projections for the stage.
After his first short film “The Box Man”, he decided to turn from classical music to filmmaking. While studying Film and Music BA at Brunel University, he worked on interdisciplinary art projects and festivals with students and lecturers from the School of Arts (Jennifer Walshe, Christopher Fox, Bob Gilmore). The psychogeography module taught by Will Self had a great influence on his work. In 2014 he moved to Paris, where he worked as a director and editor at a small production house Les Productions du Désert along with his masters Film Directing at Université Paris 8 (personal tutor Frederic Sabouraud).
Music plays a major role in his storytelling. It is particularly present in his collaborations with a Lithuanian composer Dominykas Digimas. Psychogeographic approach to street videography, exploring the city as a character was the basis of imagery for “From Another Point of View” and “This Order Goes Wrong”. Their recent works “Why Does This Appear” and “Sunshine Cake” explore the question of the subjectivity in memories, as well as docu-fiction storytelling in a silent music film form.
