A woman swings open the door to a smokey pub. This is Kate, and she’s looking for someone. After navigating her way through the eclectic mix of patrons, she spots him – a teenage boy, Charlie – her son. There’s an obvious void – too long has passed between them to allow for casual conversation. As Kate and Charlie are forced to retrace their history – Kate will finally have the chance to ask the questions that have haunted her past, and will decide her future.
Harry Holland is a young British filmmaker. He first became excited by storytelling on discovering his Granddad’s VHS collection. Then aged 10, he was lucky enough to visit and observe a film set and became captivated by the process. This led to years of making his own home videos, co-opting and coercing siblings and other family members into appearing. In 2015 and still at school, Harry wrote and directed his first short film, In the middle of the night. Then followed music videos, mini-documentaries and further shorts, most notably, Roses for Lily (2017) and a trailer for pilot season for the children’s book series, The House on Hoarder Hill. Harry has six years experience on film sets, working across five different departments, providing invaluable experience for his latest short film, Last Call. Starring Lindsay Duncan and Tom Holland, it explores the growing impact of mental health and required meticulous research. Harry was in close consultation with charities and individuals, whose input was invaluable and informed every aspect of the film. Harry is energised by stories that provoke thoughts and emotions. He wants to create evocative films on important and universal themes like human frailties, the importance of love, and our need for one another. Harry is currently developing his first feature.
