Jordi Penner

Jordi Penner was born December 16, 1987 in Riva del Garda, Trentino (Italy). A voracious reader, he has always been passionate about novels, comic books and films. At 23, he published his first novel, “Full Control” (Pieno Controllo, 2010) and received good reviews. He earned a masters degree with honors in Film Studies from the University of Bologna. During this period he received two scholarships that brought him to live and study at the University of Amsterdam and the University of California Santa Cruz, where his research and final thesis focused on screenwriting. After university, Jordi collaborated with several directors, covering a variety of roles in order to perfect his technical skills in every department, especially behind the camera. During his filmmaking career, Jordi has worked as a Screenwriter, 1st Assistant Director, Director of Photography and Editor. He has also utilized his various filmmaking talents to create content for brands and high profile companies. In 2018, he directed his first music video “Closer – The Bankrobber” which earned him the 2nd Prize for Best Independent Italian Music Video at VIC Festival in Milan. For the past four years, Jordi has been teaching film studies at Trento’s prestigious Art School, while also devoting his talents to various independent projects. “Love is a Dog” (2020, original title “Amore Cane”) is Jordi’s debut short film as writer and director.
